Oh, hell no.

Colin’s eyes opened as he reached across his bed and felt…nothing.

He scowled and looked at the empty bed next to him. The covers were thrown back. The pillow still had an indentation in it. But the sheets were cold.

No. He was not going to wake up in bed alone after fucking and falling asleep with Hayden. Then waking her up and fucking her again. And again.

Absolutely not.

He threw the covers back, pulled on sweatpants and a t-shirt, and went stomping out of his room.

He intended to find his woman and fuck her, then feed her. Or maybe he'd feed her first. Either way, Hayden was coming back to his bed. Now that he’d had her, he wasn't sure he was ever going to get enough.

The first floor of the house was quiet, though. Frustrated, he looked out to the driveway and found all the vehicles accounted for. So she was here somewhere. Then he heard voices outside. He stepped through the back door to the yard.

Finding her underneath another man was definitely not what he'd been expecting.

Jonah climbed off of her and offered her a hand up. Pulling her to her feet, he said, “So if he comes up behind you like that, you’ll want to step back and twist.”

“Okay, got it.” She brushed her hair back from her face. “Let's go again.”

What they were doing was obvious immediately. Jonah was teaching Hayden self-defense moves.

Part of Colin wanted to stomp out into the yard and carry her back to bed. But something made him pause. They hadn't noticed him yet, so he crossed his arms and propped his hip against the porch railing, settling in to watch for a bit.

Jonah took her through a few more moves, coaching her patiently. She executed them well, but without the smoothness and confidence she needed. She would need a lot more practice. Still, Jonah praised her.

“Good. Good. That was better. We need to go over this several more times,” he told her. “And there's a lot more. These are the basics, though.”

“He taught Saoirse to shoot, too,” Cian said from where he was sitting on the stone wall that circled the patio. “Archery, too. But that probably won’t do you much good.”

Hayden propped her hands on her hips. “Archery sounds cool, though.”

Jonah chuckled. “I'll teach you all of it if you want. But we’re starting with the stuff that's most helpful first.”

“Shooting him could be very helpful,” Cian said darkly.

“Just getting away from him is the most helpful,” Jonah told Cian firmly. Then he looked at Hayden. “Though I promise you, if you do shoot him, no one will ever find that body.”

Her eyes widened.

Colin almost chuckled. And it wasn’t because he thought it was funny. It was because she didn’t realize that Jonah was only one of many who would help dispose of any dead bodies she produced in self-defense. Or even not-so-self-defense. She now had a posse of people who would dig a hole for her without question.

Hayden was frowning now.
